Bill Hicks: Slight Return at the Soho Theatre

Saw Richard Hurst's "Bill Hicks : Slight Return" at the Soho Theatre last night. It is a comedy play where Bill Hicks (played extremely well with great spirit by Chris Early) comes back to Earth for one last gig, praising the rise of Internet porn, revealing the ultimate fate of Randy Pan the Goat Boy, and much more new material that is nearly, nearly as good as Hicks' own (possibly too many homages to earlier jokes by Bill). It get quite self-referential towards the end, ("Bill" calls the audience suckers for turning up to see him when he isn't really Bill, for example), which made the experience a bit more that the comedic equivalent of a cover band that also plays their own material. The play has finished in London, but there are still some other dates around the UK, and apparently there will be an Autumn tour. If you like Bill's material, go see the play if you have a chance. A very entertaining production!
